This pleasant wine bar, nestled between Carnegie Hall and East Harlem, features exposed brick walls, barn-wood flooring, and a glass front. The ABV crew prefers foreign beers and off-the-beaten-path wineries.
So, ABV has described the New York Times as a “restaurant whose attitude is a blend of boyhood nostalgia, macho, and a dash of stick-it-to-the-man.” Intrigued? We most certainly are!
Anfora
Anfora, named after the clay jars used by the Greeks and Romans to carry their wines. This West Village neighborhood treasure first opened its doors in 2010. So, it offers some excellent examples of wine employing the Anfora maturation procedure on its menu.
Bar Boulud
This simple cafe is direct across the Lincoln Center and offers a full menu of fresh French bistro food and wines from Burgundy and the Rhone Valley.
Not only is the meal and wine selection excellent. They also keeps custom engraved liquor bottle. The modern decor gives you something to think about. Keep an eye out for the “Cave a Vine.”
The Barrel
This tasting facility has 11 wines on tap, all prepared in-house by winemaker David Lecomte. Because of the “tap” experience, the wine has devoid of preservatives and added sulfates, making it fresh and environmentally beneficial.
So, if you find a wine you like, they offer house-made wines available for purchase.
Burger & Barrel
This Soho location boasts highly diversified and market-driven food, as well as a great wine list curated by sommelier Natalie Tapken. So, try their award-winning “Bash Burger,” winning first place at the NY Food and Wine Festival Event five times.
i Trulli
This wine list offers over 450 labels, is a New York City institution for excellent Italian cuisine. The wine selection focuses on Southern Italian wines, while the food has oriented on the Italian area Puglia, the proprietor Nicola Marzovilla’s hometown.
So, Dora Marzovilla makes all of the pasta, while Nicola curates the wine list. What a fantastic combination: wine and pasta!
Kaia Wine Bar
Here Kaia, which means “hut” in Zulu, serves farm-to-table small meals, artisan brews, and a wine selection that focuses on South African wines. The South African-inspired cuisine provides a one-of-a-kind taste experience. So, the honey ribs, or Vark Ribbetjies, are said to be out of this world!
Peasant
